My Travel from Mangalore to Meghalaya – A Time to Make It Fun-Filled and Exciting

Posted on Updated on

The life of an accountant is quite demanding most of the time. The year endings particularly make me exhausted working long hours for a few months at a stretch. Such times I long for a break and travel to any place in the country. This time I fixed a place, which I had had in my mind for a long time. It was Meghalaya and I enjoyed visiting the place with two of my best friends.

Though a budget traveler who loved to travel by train, I decided to fly because I had not enough time for vacation. Traveling by air to Shillong, Meghalaya required two flights. We booked the Economy Class tickets with Jet Airways, which was scheduled to depart at 11.05 am on a Wednesday through a best travel app getting best fares.

Jet Airways, the largest private airline in the country, offers excellent connectivity between major and emerging cities. We reached the Bajpe Airport, now known as Mangalore Airport two hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. After the check-in, we were guided onboard the aircraft. The interiors were quite pleasing and designed to offer comfort.

We reached Mumbai, the Chattrapati Shivaji Airport at 12.40 pm for a stopover and plane change. At 2.15 pm, we boarded another Jet Airways flight, which reached the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Airport, Kolkata at 5 pm after two hours and forty minutes of journey.

Our Air India flight from Kolkata to Shillong was scheduled the next day at 12.35 pm. Until then, we had enough time to go around the Kolkata City. My friends suggested we visit the Indian Museum, the next day. Nevertheless, we visited the Rabindra Sarovar Lake in the evening that day and did some shopping.

The next day, the flight was on time and we had a good flight of about one hour and twenty five minutes before we reached the Barapani Airport, Shillong. The airport is a civilian airport and is situated in Umroi, which is about 30 km away from Shillong.

We had MTDC bus services from the airport to the city and from there we took a cab to the Habitat Hotel, which was our abode for some time. Our travel from Mangalore to Meghalaya was quite fun-filled and exciting.
