While moving down hill, we made our next visit to the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram of Visakhapatnam, which is located at a two minute walk from the RK beach, sited within the lush greenery. The Ashram is a beautiful structure in light pink color.
The Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, also known as Ramakrishna Mission, was constructed in the year 1938 on the Ramakrishna Beach. The ashram offers a peaceful, soothing and natural environment to the visitors. However, it is also renowned for offering the marvelous view of the raising sun. This Mission was established with the motive of providing educational, medical and cultural facilities. The Ashram is also active in providing relief and to rehabilitate the needy.
On entering the premises, a board read the facilities of the ashram. We were pleased to know that it housed a library, a school, a dispensary, and an exhibition hall which has work to display the life of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda and Holy Mother. The building is surrounded by beautiful garden. This place welcomes the tourists to attend its various activities of meditation and reincarnation, and many tourists were attending and participating in those activities. The Mission was indeed performing the noble task.
We entered inside the Ashram and were welcomed with a tranquil prayer hall that had decor of clear marble flooring and comforting lighting. In the center of the hall was installed an idol of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. There were placed idols of Sharada Maa and Vivekananda also. This prayer hall is designed to conduct regular prayers as well as meditation. Then there was a way where hall was opened to public for meditation.
We were fortunate to attend the puja for the day, which was the last pooja done at 12 PM. It was a splendid experience. The evening aarti and prayer occurs at 7 PM. Community meals are also organized at the Mission.
Then we visited the library that had an immense collection of books, in many languages. We also visited the museum that was very informative. The Mission is undoubtedly continuing its noble task to serve mankind.
