At Madurai we stayed at Hotel North Gate, Madurai, which is a two star hotel in the city, with all facilities. We reached the hotel from the railway station in no time, as it was quite close to the railway station, only about 4 km. The airport is only 13 km from the hotel. The hotel is opposite to the American College in Goripalayam. Some of the important places like Alangulam Lake and Koodal Alagar Temple are situated close to the hotel.
We reached the hotel by 1.00 am and were soon shown to our room. The room was spacious and well-decorated, and provided with all modern facilities like LCD TV with cable connection, AC, Wi-Fi, telephone, attached bathroom with hot/cold running water etc. There was 24 hour room service and we had a cup of hot tea. We all got refreshed and sat for a while planning were to visit the next day. As we were all tired after the journey, we were soon asleep. The next morning I was the first to wake up. It was already 6 and I went out looking around the hotel.
It was a four storey structure with 46 rooms. The rooms were categorized in to Deluxe and Standard rooms. There was a lawn where I walked around enjoying the fresh and cool morning air. After the walk I got inside and saw that the there was an in-house restaurant named Gourmet. It was a multi-cuisine restaurant that served breakfast, lunch and dinner. It could accommodate 50 people at a time and looked quite inviting. I decided to have breakfast with my friends at the restaurant. Ecstasy is the bar in the hotel.
As I walked up to my room, I saw that there was a conference hall named Celebrity on the fifth floor of the hotel, well equipped with all modern equipments. It had a seating capacity of 100. There was another room on the ground floor called Forum, which was ideal for conducting board meetings, and had a capacity to seat 15 people.
Laundry service, doctor on call, parking area, accommodation for drivers etc are some of the other facilities offered at Hotel North Gate, Madurai.
